You know it’s 2016 when talk at the beauty salon isn’t about who’s wearing what, who was seen with who, or what you heard from “you-know-who” – it’s about dough. And not the kind I’m paying for my new, fabulous highlights. It’s about the deliciousness of gluten-free breads now, how far they’ve come in a short time, and where they’re for sale. Costco, you say?!
My new hairstylist is a dream, a lovely lady with a beautiful heart, superb knowledge about hair styles and color, and yes, about the super seeded multi-grain bread from The Essential Baking Company.
I rushed to Costco the next day to see for myself – and there it was – a twin-pack of deliciousness wrapped up in a package for only $ 7.99. I said it right, for two loaves! It’s that dark brown bread with all the seeds, including sunflower and flax seeds, that as she put it was “too delicious to be good for you”. (Ingredients are listed here.)
The Essential Baking Company makes glutenous bread as well, however all their gluten-free products (breads, rolls, buns, pizza crusts, and dough balls) are made in a dedicated gluten-free facility.
They are gluten free, dairy free, nut free, soy free, and never frozen. Opa!
My taste tests included: the bread slices as a sandwich, toast with peanut butter, and toast with just a little dab of butter. All passed! Plus, I feel a little great about eating something that’s more good for you than not, and the price at Costco made it that much sweeter.
By the way, she’s not even a “gluten-free’er” – she just likes the taste!
Try it, and let me know what you think.

What Costco (City/State) did you/she locate this GF Bread. My local store did carry it but no longer…I can find it elsewhere, but it’s a single pack, and double the price!
TY…TTYL.

Hi Jerome,
I located this bread at the Escondido, CA location. The Essential Baking Company’s store locator site might be helpful in finding a Costco, or other store, near you – here’s their direct link: http://essentialbaking.com/storelocator.
Additionally, you might try asking the Costco Customer Service desk rep at your local store. Many times I give them a brand name, they’re able to pull it up on their computer, and provide me great information on the product, if they’ll continue to carry it, etc. It’s worth a try!
Best of luck with your search.

Hi Jerome,
UPDATE (August 2017) – This bread is back at Costco! They took it out of the market to make some changes, and have brought it back. I saw it last week in San Diego Costco’s in the 2-pack.
Try your local Costco again – perhaps they’ve brought it back, too!
