Culina. A modern Italian, mouth-watering dining experience located in the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.
It was a special evening out, celebrating nothing in particular and everything wonderful, and my seester and I dined from their 5-course prix fixe tasting menu. What a treat! The catch, to leave my camera at home and not flash the food. Darn. However, yes, when the dessert came around, who could resist the smiley staring at us! Thank goodness for iPhones.

Love Your Food Everyday.
Their motto – Eat good. Feel good. Do Good.
Lyfe Kitchen opened in Culver City, CA a few years ago, and was an immediate welcomed addition to my ‘to try’ list. They support local farms and promote sustainability with their food choices, menu preparation, and have many great-tasting choices on each of their three menus. Chef Art Smith and Chef Tal Ronnen have created an interesting, tasty assortment of options.

Louise’s Trattoria has been a lunch/dinner spot of mine for nearly 10 years. With a few locations near me, they’ve always been an ‘easy’ choice to meet friends and family. Louise’s celebrated it’s 35 years this year, and is top-rated in CitySearch.

A fun 3 1/2 days of adventure, San Francisco and the northern California Coast are absolutely gorgeous in the month of June. You can never be sure when “June gloom” will set in and blanket the bridges and coastline… opa for the weather on our side as we were treated to a great road trip, beautiful photography and some fantastic meals. I met my friend Matt downtown, and together we grabbed a map, our cameras and some snacks, and we were off.

Ahhhhh, Las Vegas. The city where no one sleeps, the lights are always lit, the oxygen is pumped into you in every casino, and a feast of $ 8.95 prime rib buffets await those who dare to indulge. For the gluten-free traveler, Vegas is surprisingly more friendly than I anticipated. This is great news!

The sweet smell of this recipe entices guests into the kitchen… now you can put them to work, too! ;o). Beef with snow peas is a standard Chinese dish, and like many Chinese dishes, usually only needs a swap of gluten-free Tamari sauce to replace the usual soy sauce (containing wheat), and us gluten-intolerant blessed people can enjoy to the fullest!

I’d been jonesin’ for some mac ‘n cheese for a VERY long time. When I paired it up with my pork loin and sautéed apples meal, my stomach was smiling and my guests were pleasantly giving me the happy nod across the table. Oh yes, a meal that tastes as good warm as it does cold, any time of year, and pretty simple to make.

Any time is apple pie time… but FALL is the best time to create your smilin’ pie made from hand picked apples from your local orchard. I’ve always found using the freshest of local apples straight from the tree seems to taste all the better. Ask your orchard store which apples they currently have that will work best with apple pie, as not all apples work as well.

One recipe I’ve been thrilled to re-create is for chicken quesadillas. I’m not a huge corn tortilla fan, and really wanted to see what making my own gluten-free flour tortillas would taste like, using the most flavorful fillings in a quesadilla. This recipe is amazing!

This tasty recipe was originally found on Food Network (Thx, Cathy Lowe!) ~ it was a simple gluten-free transition since most items are singles, ie. only one ingredient within itself. I added some Quinoa noodles and a simple staple pasta sauce and voila! Even my picky friends came back for seconds!
