“The Classic” grass-fed cheese burger w/ bacon & grilled onions
Every few months I crave a delicious, juicy burger, and I’m definitely NOT purchasing it through a drive thru window. I came across Burger Lounge in Las Vegas many years ago, prior to eating gluten-free, and am a happy repeat customer. Their gluten-free buns are an added bonus. I appreciate their “uncomplicated, tastefully-sourced approach” in keeping their burgers taste so good!

Bring on the samples! A stroll around the GF&AF Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo is comparable to the excitement people enjoy walking around Costco, taste-testing their way through the aisles, and more importantly, trying before you’re buying. With so many gluten-free foods on the market now, it’s expensive ‘trying’ a new brand for the $7-$10, only to toss it out after the first bite because it doesn’t meet your taste buds in the delicious zone.
San Diego’s Del Mar Fairgrounds held the 2018 Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo February 10 & 11 this year. Sharing my top 15 “Opa’s!” with you, in no particular order… products that wow’d me, and will be added to my “go to’s” on future shopping trips. Tender Greens was born via one great idea from “two chefs and a foodie”. Now, it’s a restaurant whose goal is to change the way people eat for the better. Their menu is vast with something for every appetite, filled with tasty gluten-free options. You’d think I would try something other than this Backyard Marinated Steak Plate, then, right?!? ;o)

Bushfire Kitchen Natural Angus Tri-Tip w/ a side of grilled veggies & Greek salad
I’m thrilled to find Bushfire Kitchen and it’s tasty, mostly gluten-free menu, filled with ‘naturally nutritious food’. It’s my new go-to in San Diego County, and with so many options, I’m a satisfied and repeat, very pleased, customer. “Fresh, humanely raised, natural, free from hormones & antibiotics, sourced from local farmers, and organic whenever possible”, Bushfire Kitchen is one of those places anyone will find something delicious to eat.

Historic Julian, California is a quaint, little mountain getaway, located approx. an hour east of San Diego. People walk Julian’s Main Street of shops and eateries, and enjoy the 1870’s buildings in this city within the beautiful Cuyamaca mountains. Looking for gluten-free options?
They’re famous for their apple pie. I found a handful of eateries accommodating gluten-free lifestyles, including gluten-free apple pie ;o) (BIG SMILE).

My sweet tooth directed my drive through Carlsbad last week, and (luckily!) I stumbled upon SusieCakes at La Costa Town Square. I never know where gluten-free treats will pop up, and this cute, little shop provided a few options for a taste-test.

Farmer’s Mix Salad w/ chicken ~ sliced almonds, local stone fruit, midnight moon goat cheese, caramel cider vinaigrette
Beautiful San Diego provides a playground of museums, a coast of gorgeous cliffs and beaches, and a bountiful selection of delicious gluten-free meal options. While strolling through Balboa Park in downtown San Diego, I’ve dined at The Prado Lounge at Balboa park on a few occasions, and enjoyed fabulous gluten-free lunches.
