Glutino’s “any-time-of-day” gluten-free table crackers ~ crunchy and so good!

Sometimes I just want a cracker. Like Polly, nothing’s needed to make it any better than just what it is. A cracker. Glutino makes a fine gluten free table cracker that fits this craving, and it’s available in most grocery stores.
When I was young, I remember birthday times when extra cake frosting was left in the bottom of the bowl. We’d scrape it up and layer it onto a beautiful saltine cracker. Sometimes we’d color the frosting, sometimes we’d add some extract, but whether or not it ‘looked’ good was not important… we knew it would always taste delicious.
So yes, we sugared it up.
When I first went gluten free in 2010 (after twelve years of not knowing why my stomach always hurt, the foggy memory, the joint aches…) I went through the phase of being a bit sad I’d have to say good-bye to many of my old comfort foods. That’s another story for another post, however I have since found that frosting on top of Glutino’s Gluten Free Table Crackers is just as satisfying for that extra-birthday-cake-frosting-leftover-treat.
That said, I mostly like them plain. Sometimes I just want something crunchy, and these little ‘premium squares’ are a fix for that. A serving size of three crackers is 150 calories, so one is simply 50. Not too bad.
I also use them crunched up in soups, chili, on top of my every-so-often-made-tuna-casserole dish, and anything else that could use a little c – r – u – n – c – h.
Oh, and then there’s the ultimate usage – the ice cream spoon replacement! Yes, my parents are from the midwest, so I’m guessing that’s where this all started. I’m not a huge ice cream indulger, but when I do, you can bet I’m eating that Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk on top of a Glutino Gluten Free Table Cracker.
Don’t judge. Give it a try!
