Summer peeks around the corner, and parents feel the crunch to find activities for their children during the break. I came across a website to share – a bit of the stress can be reduced by knowing your kids will at least be eating safe, gluten-free foods, while enjoying lots of summer fun!
GIG, the Gluten Intolerance Group, shares a list of Kids’ Camps for those with celiac disease. They are located all over the United States – California’s is in the northern area of Livermore at Camp Celiac.
Investigating the GIG website further, they provide excellent additional resources for kids with celiac disease such as:
- Kids’ Symptoms
- Celiac Disease in Children
- Understanding Your Student
- School Trip Letter
- Letter To Teacher
- GFCO Certified Gluten-Free Candy List
- Snow Day Survival Tips
Most importantly – hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Make sure you, and your family, keep well hydrated over the coming hot months. Remind your loved ones to drink that H2O up! So many times we engage ourselves in activities and “forget” to take a break to recharge our body with necessary fluids.
As my summer camp counselor once reminded me, “if you’re not peeing at least 7-8 times a day, you’re not drinking enough.” (Yep, there’s lots of internet information on that subject as well!)
Whatever your plans for summer ~ enjoy, play often, be kind, and drink your water.
