Imagine 10 lady friends sitting on a quaint patio with a water feature, beautiful greenery, and a fabulous Carlsbad Village (CA) sea breeze, readying their taste buds for some delicious lunch eats.  Lucky me to be in such company!  And lucky FOR me, Lynne knows her restaurants!  Paon Restaurant & Wine Bar is simply savory.

Paon Restaurant & Wine Bar offers a beautiful French cuisine lunch menu featuring “seasonal, locally grown, organic produce for the palates of fine dining lovers from all over the world spotlighting organic prime meats, game and fish all prepared with traditional French sophistication.”

My Grilled Chicken Breast was perfectly seasoned, capers and veggies al dente and flavorful, topped with a tasty lemon caper butter.  Looking for a ‘new’ way to prepare chicken?  I’m inspired to recreate this at home!  Delicous!

Flourless Valrhona Chocolate Grand Marnier Cake

It just got quiet!  Once the dessert was served, one could hear a pin drop on our patio… voila the Flourless Valrhona Chocolate Grand Marnier Cake!  It’s served with apricot coulis, creme anglaise and Valrhona chocolate mousse.  A heavenly gluten-free treat!

Housemade Mint Ice Cream w/ chocolate dipped bananas & pistachio crumbles

Paon Restaurant & Wine Bar makes all their ice cream in house.  This Housemade Mint Ice Cream is served atop sliced pineapple with fresh kiwi, chocolate dipped bananas, pistachio crumbles and chocolate sauce.  10 desserts offered at $10 a piece, at least 4 can be offered gluten-free.

Thrilled to enjoy today’s lunch with my ladies at Open Table’s 2018 ‘Diners’ Choice Award’ (#1 in North San Diego).  Paon is Zagat Rated, awarded ‘Best of Award of Excellence’ by Wine Spectator 2017, and Trip Advisor’s ‘Certificate of Excellence‘ 2015.

Next time I’m in Carlsbad Village, I’d be sampling more from their menu!
