Sunscreen – to wear or not to wear. It’s the debated question posed each year at the beginning of summer. As far as I’ve found so far, the debate continues. It’s up to you to make your best informed decision.
Next, then, is the reminder “you are what your wear“. Sunscreen absorbs into the skin and, like similar products (makeup, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion), take a look at your sunscreen to confirm it’s gluten-free before slathering it on.
I’ve found many great online resources re: sunscreens tested to be gluten-free. The two brands I use most often are Kiss My Face and Alba, however numerous other product lines are joining the collection of ‘safe’ sunscreens.
Two such companies are Coppertone and Banana Boat, found at most convenient stores, grocery stores, and even at beach pier tourism shops – very helpful when you’re on-the-go and you’ve forgotten your supply.
Following are a few ‘mainstream’ sunscreen brands found to be gluten-free:
Check out what these bloggers have so say, as they’ve gone a bit more in depth. You may also want to consider if brands are certified organic, or not, before applying. I’m simply passing along the good word today ;o).
Online blogs writing about gluten-free sunscreen:

Always check the product labels for yourself before usage, as ingredients tend to shift year to year.
Keep protected, keep cool, and enjoy your outdoor festivities!
