Searching for something sweet one afternoon in Overland Park, KS, I turned on my iPhone maps app and searched for ‘gluten free bakeries’. Only two blocks away (lucky me!), I drove to Gigi’s Cupcakes and the rest is history. I’m hooked. Gigi’s Cupcakes are the b e s t gluten-free cupcakes I’ve ever tasted. (Ok, I’ll say ‘yet’… however they’ve set the standards high).

To enjoy the fullest p u m p k i n flavor, it’s all about the gluten-free f l o u r. Moist cake at it’s finest, topped with creamy frosting, rich with taste. I first tried this gluten-free pumpkin sheet cake ‘n cream cheese frosting recipe in Kansas at moms (love that she participates in my ‘New Recipe Sunday‘), and it’s been a treat to share with my California friends. Waaaaay back in the day, I remember mom in the kitchen whipping up a cherry cream cheese pie for one event or another. It always was a hit, and either went fast at the dessert social or was eaten quickly by friends and family at the house. I always wondered what made it so appealing, since as a kid it didn’t look interesting enough to give a fair try. I am SO glad I grew up… ;o).

Any time is apple pie time… but FALL is the best time to create your smilin’ pie made from hand picked apples from your local orchard. I’ve always found using the freshest of local apples straight from the tree seems to taste all the better. Ask your orchard store which apples they currently have that will work best with apple pie, as not all apples work as well.
