“Welcome to my bakery!” Since 1991 Corner Bakery Cafe has served up delicious soups, sandwiches and desserts in their “casual neighborhood gathering place.” To my happiness, I stopped in one of their cafe’s a few months ago and found “gluten-friendly” bread now available. Opa!
With 169 locations scattered across the United States, you’ve probably come across one on your travels, especially in Southern California with 39 cafes! Founded in Chicago, their city also enjoys 30 spots around town. Texas, Washington DC, Kansas, Arizona, Georgia, New York… (and many more) many major cities serve up their tasty, signature menu items.
Let’s talk chicken (my fav!). Their Chicken Pomodori panini is made with “all-natural roasted chicken, fresh basil and spinach, oven-roasted tomatoes and provolone cheese with pesto mayo”. Skip the chips and ask for the carrots as your side. Delicious! The only thing I would add is… a bit more chicken ;0).
They offer a few gluten-free soups, namely the Zesty Chicken Tortilla Soup and the Three Lentil Vegetable Soup.
Salad choices a la gluten-free dining include:
- Chopped
- Santa Fe Ranch
- Southwest Avocado
- Quinoa & Pico
- Mozzarella Tomato Arugula
Make any of their (5) grilled panini’s, their 8 signature sandwiches, or their (4) mom’s sandwiches “gluten-friendly” by ordering their gf bread, and checking with the manager on specific items within (spreads, dressings). Lots of choices and delicious photos!
(Speaking of delicious photos, now that I’ve seen their gf breakfast menu, this calls for a few more tasting trips and a breakfast blog post to come…).
Pricing is fair, with most items below $10. Ambiance is pleasant, casual and non-pretentious. Food is tasty and staff is always friendly.
Now, if they would simply add some gluten-free desserts!
S m i l e… remember to take some time in your day to enjoy life’s little smiles. It’s ok, play with your food a little!

I thought that would catch your eye ;o). One is in Overland Park (6721 W. 135th Street), and the other in Leawood (11705 Roe Ave.). Enjoy!
