Often the best lunches are the ones you create yourself… and when you’re out, about,
and h – u – n – g – r – y, spotting a Whole Foods brings me such delight. They offer a full salad bar with fresh, organic vegetables to choose from, and carry various other grab-it-to-go/made-to-order lunch (breakfast/dinner) options.
Every Wednesday, Whole Foods reduces it’s salad bar rate from $8.99/pound to $7.49/pound. Hey, every penny counts. Today I designed a small salad with three organic lettuces, different colored organic carrots, cucumber, hard boiled egg, a few varieties of grated cheese, cranberries, pecans, blueberries, strawberries, grapes… topped with drizzles of their yummy balsamic vinaigrette creamy dressing.
Whole Foods Markets feature a sandwich bar as well… this Del Mar, CA location “uses nearly all locally sourced San Diego ingredients”. I’ve found all Whole Foods Markets I’ve tried across the states are known to use and sell local, too. Cool.
I’ve not yet tried the coffee/smoothie/juice bar, or the sushi station. Many Whole Foods Markets now include “The Trifecta Tavern” – “a casual bar and restaurant with wine and a rotating selection of over 24 craft beers on tap, along with an extensive food menu.” So much yet to try!
But I digress, since today pizza is on my mind. And yes, they’ve got that covered!
The pizza bar displays ready-made slices of all sorts of pie varieties.. I think it’s a great find having someone create your own, personal, mini gluten-free pizza while you wait (8 minutes tops). Today I enjoyed the pepperoni w/ caramelized onions and tomato sauce. So good!
Touted “America’s Healthiest Grocery Store“, Whole Foods Market is a sure smile for this gluten-free-gal-on-the-go. Sure their prices are a bit higher on some items, but I’ve found with that comes freshness, deliciousness, and I’ve never been sick from anything I’ve consumed at any of their locations. It’s worth the peace of mind for my peaceful belly.
What’s your favorite Whole Foods Market gluten-free lunch? I’d love to hear your feedback on my Facebook page sometime.
